How can I find out who created a virtual machine (or any other resource)?
You can use the Activity Log to see who has completed an action, both in the resource group and the individual VM resource:

Additional notes:
- The retention period for the Activity Log is 90 days. If you want to keep log data longer than 90 days, you can download the activity log or send the activity log to Azure storage.
- Activity logs take a couple minutes to populate. It takes a couple minutes for activity to show up in the activity logs so you may need to wait. If activity fails to show up after 2 hours, please file a support ticket and we'll look into it.
