Connection time out for Telnet from win10 to my virtual machine

I had set InBound rules and OutBound rules for port 8000 in my VM, but there is just port 22 can be connected by telnet.
What should I do for solving this trouble ?
Please help me !!!

Per my understanding, I believe you are unable to telnet to a VM on Port 8000, however, the same works for Port 22

Can you please let me know what service is running on port 8000?

Please do a self-telnet from the Linux VM : telnet 127.0.0.1 8000 and share the output

Are you using Azure Firewall or NSG?

If you are using NSG, please make sure the traffic is allowed in both the NSGs (from NIC level as well as subnet level), if there are two

Please share the output of the self-telnet command, to make sure the VM is listening on port 8000.

I have run a python project on port 8000 which is constructed by Django.

I Will start with couple of questions to get more clarity on your setup.

Are you using a network security group (NSG) or a firewall?

If you use nsg, have you checked if there is an nsg on the network card and another for the vnet?

Is your VM listening on that port? try to test the internal telnet like:

telnet localhost 8000

No, I just created a single VM with its own Networking options (InBound rules and OutBound rules).

-> telnet localhost 8000
The output of my test is as below:
Trying ::1...
telnet: connect to address ::1: Connection refused
Trying 127.0.0.1...
Connected to localhost.

Are you using windows or linux?
try to check windows firewall or iptables firewall (SELINUX)

You can use network watcher to check all inbound rules, on NSG diagnostic option:

I'd like to use a VM without NSG if possible. I think it will spend more time to study NSG and I just want to learn some python.....

Hi @eng_dqj
So you can add a Public IP in the basic layer, so you don't need to add NSG and all ports will be open, standard public ip comes with blocked ports and you need to use NSG to open.

Go to Market Place, look for Public IP address e select SKU Basic, just like:

That way you won't need to use nsg or firewall
