Regarding SQL Server 2012 eol:

When I look at Add/Remove Programs on various computers with SQL server, I see the following software listed:

Microsoft SQL Server 2012 Native Client
Microsoft SQL Server 2016 LocalDB
Microsoft SQL Server 2019 (64-bit)
etc.

Neither our patch management software nor Windows Update attempts to update the 2012 Native Client. Is that OK?

Thank you.

    Hi @Kenneth Kemp ,

Yes, it is Ok. Do not worry about that.

The Microsoft® SQL Server® 2012 Native Client is available as part of Microsoft® SQL Server® 2012 Feature Pack, which is updated at each SQL Server 2012 Service Pack. If you have SQL 2012 SP4, Then you already have the latest version of SQL 2012 Native Client. Or you can get the latest version of SQL Server® 2012 Native Client from this link.

Note that Microsoft will not be releasing a SQL Server 2014 or later version of the SQL Server Native Client. The SQL Server 2012 Native Client (v11, e.g. sqlncli11.dll), can continue to be utilized by SQL Server 2014 and later versions.
