Ok. Can you confirm if the issue occurs when the google chrome is upgraded or any specific situation where you can see it affects it ?
Unable to open pdf file, they always want to be open on Chrome
Hello,
On my new master Windows 11, every day, PDF files are open in Chrome, instead i set Acrobat Reader like default app.
I've created a policy in MEM to set Acrobat reader to be the default app for pdf file. It's work well, but after few days, Chrome takes the lead.
Every day I set Acrobat, but It's a pain, and like this, I can't deliver my new master.
I've also tried to define Acrobat reader like the application for opening .html file. But it's the same that with Acrobat, Chrome takes the lead after few hours.
Thanks for your help
Olivier

To clarify this issue, could you please check if PDF file is set to be opened by Acrobat Reader in Settings > Apps > Default apps > Choose default apps by file type.
Based on my research, I find that someone has discussed this issue. Please refer to the following article:

2022-07-21T07:45:25.357+00:00 Hi,
You should be able to permanently set Adobe Acrobat as the defaulter PDF files by doing the following:
https://helpx.adobe.com/uk/acrobat/kb/not-default-pdf-owner-windows10.html
You can actually prevent Chrome from opening up the PDFs by following this guide:
Ensure that Power PDF is installed on the computer and set as the default application for PDF’s.
In Chrome, go to the “Menu” icon, then choose “Settings“.
In the “Privacy and Security” section, select “Site Settings“.
Select “Additional content settings”.
Scroll down and select “PDF documents“.
Switch the “Download PDF files instead of automatically opening them in Chrome” to “On“.
PDF files will download in Chrome just like any other file. You can select the downloaded file at the bottom of the window, then choose “Always open with system viewer”, then the file will open in the default PDF viewer.I hope this answers your question.

2022-07-21T08:17:48.467+00:00 Hello,
I'll try that, but It's seemed only solved half of the problem. Like this, I'll able to open pdf's files, but in Chrome, instead of Adobe Reader.
I'll keep you in touch.
