Business Store apps won't install via Intune

Hi Guys,

Not sure what the issue is but when I deploy any app from Business Store via Intune, they just hang on "Install Pending".

  • Added/Purchased an app (MS Whiteboard) to MS Business Store.
  • Assigned to a users group (so that free license has been assigned)
  • App is published in Intune - assigned to the same group as "Required"
  • It's been 2 days since around 99% of clients hung on "Install Pending". I suspect these 1% clients are from previous PC deployment setup when MS Store was open for app installation as I can see those are only old machines.
There are no errors reporting, nothing.
I took my laptop home, disabled anti-virus, switched off VPN, tried other configs - nothing.
Tried couple other Business Store apps - the same result - nothing installs.
Tried via Private store also - I can see "Install" button, but when pressed nothing happens.
I know how to package apps, we have no issues with Win32.
I also assume Intune config is right as I can see the app published in Intune...

Example below:

  • I've added MS Whiteboard, 7 hours ago with around 350 clients/users. It goes extremely slow, as after 7 hours there are only 32 clients reported (most are online), and 2 installed are on very old machines.
  • My one is on the list also with Install Pending - I'm at home with 1Gbps connection.

Any help appreciated.

Thanks

@PT Maliborski Thanks for your update. I have done the test in my lab. I will share some details with you.

When I deploy this offline app, I assigned it to my device group and I changed license type to "Device". Then I found that this app is installed successfully in the target device and it shows "installed" in intune portal.

Please try and check if it works.

@PT Maliborski Thanks for posting in our Q&A.

From the screen shot, I have noticed that it is an online app. Please understand that online app installations are managed by the store.

    1. Please make sure that you can access to the Microsoft store in the target device. If you disable access to the Store on managed devices (either manually, via policy or Group Policy), Online licensed apps will fail to install.
    2. Please check if the status shows "active" in Tenant admin > Connectors and tokens > Microsoft Store for Business in intune portal.

If it is still in install pending, please try to deploy an offline one.

For more details about Microsoft store for Business app, please refer to the following article:

@Lu Dai-MSFT Thank you for your reply.
Tried your suggestions but unfortunately I get the same result.

In the last 3 hours only 2 machines got the app installed, both old deployment/the same users that online version got installed for.
    Connector tokes are also active.

Is there anything else I could try?

@Lu Dai-MSFT Thanks for your help.
That kind of helped. App started being installed.
It still goes slow but at least there is some progress.
    Thank again
