I am trying to follow a set of instructions that were provided by a vendor to bypass a pop-up dialog box. I am performing these steps in Windows Server 2016 Standard. The instructions are as follows:

  1. Download and install the Enterprise Site List Manager tool from Microsoft:

https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=49974

  1. Run the tool and configure your site list URL’s following the steps below:

a. Click the Add button

b. Enter the full URL including the ClickOnce web application (e.g. https://vision.company.com/visionclient)

c. Leave all other defaults

d. Click Save.

e. Enter additional URL’s as appropriate following steps a-d above.

f. When complete click File->Save to XML, enter a name and network location that all clients will be able to access (via Group Policy).

  1. Download and install the Edge Group Policies to your domain from the link below:

https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/edge/business/download

a. Select the Channel/Version of Edge Chromium browser

b. Select the build deployed

c. Select the platform in use

d. Click “Get Policy Files”

e. More information on available Edge policies included in the download are listed below:

https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/deployedge/microsoft-edge-policies

  1. Configure the following Edge Group Policies under User Configuration->Administrative Templates->Microsoft Edge:

a. Configure the Enterprise Mode Site List

i. Enable the policy

ii. Under Options->Configure the Enterprise Mode Site List, enter the network location of the XML file created in Step 2

iii. Click Apply and then OK

b. Configure Internet Explorer Integration

i. Enable the policy

ii. Under Options->Configure Internet Explorer Integration select Internet Explorer mode from the drop down.

iii. Click Apply and then OK

  1. Test the new group policies and once satisfied, roll the new policies out to your users.

After performing all of these steps I created a test OU. Moved 1 machine over to that test OU. Applied the GPO and restarted the PC. I then had user login and try test it out, still getting the pop-up. Any suggestions?

    Hi @Tim Schwall ,

I checked the steps you mentioned in the question. I would like to inform you that the steps you have followed could help to configure the IE mode in the Edge browser. With the help of IE mode, you could access your legacy sites in the Edge browser.

I am not sure how it could help to bypass the dialog for your Click Once application.

I suggest you could contact your vendor to clarify the steps.

If your need is to configure your site in the IE mode then I could see that you have already followed the steps. To verify whether the policy is applied, you could go to edge://policy/ and check whether Internet Explorer integration and Enterprise Mode Site List policies are configured.

Further, you could go to edge://compat/enterprise to see whether the site you added to sitelist.xml file is correctly added in the Edge browser.

If everything is configured properly then you could expect that when you launch your site in the Edge browser, it get loaded in the IE mode(you could notice the IE icon before the site URL in the address bar).

Please do let me know if you have questions.

    References:

    1. Configure Internet Explorer integration
    2. Configure the Enterprise Mode Site List

    Best Regards,
    Deepak
