not finding security option under settings

not finding security option under settings

I have created the VM and under settings option I am not seeing option called security and security centre. How do I get it? Please help

Hi @sns

You can achieve this by 2 method

1) Apply an azure policy name : Refer Screen shot.

2) Search Defender on top search bar of azure portal - in left pane - Workload protection / Security Posture - Make sure your VM added in these .

Hi @sns ,

if you don't enter defender in the filter do you see any policies in the list? If "yes" how many policies are displayed?

Look like you tried step 1 but didn't work .

No problem we can check with step 2

1) Confirm Defender is enable for your subscription first

a) Sign in to the Azure portal.

b) Search for and select Microsoft Defender for Cloud.

c)From Defender for Cloud's main menu, select Environment settings.

d) Select the subscription or workspace that you want to protect. [ If you don't see your subscription added , Click "add environment" button on top and add your subscription, Once you added.

e) Select Enable all to enable all of the plans for Defender for Cloud which look like this , refer below screen shot :

f) In above screen shot , you only need to enable for server and prices will be shown for defender plan.

g) Please make sure and review the pricing tier for defender to avoid unnecessary charges.

my guess is that Microsoft Defender for Cloud isn't enabled for the subscription.

Hi Mohammad,

I found it, yes I could see the resources and plan details. By enabling what it takes care? does it install agent automatically and assess the security report?

However my requirement is I want to test only below 3 things for 1 VM I have in my environment.

Install agent on VM

Provide Just in time access for VM

File integrity enable and adaptive access method

and Immediately I want to remove above security options

Yes you are in right direction.

Refer below screen shot which give you info about what feature will comes with defender enabling for server.

3 feature you mention above is already included in the package. Yes it will be in auto provisioning mode , sometime take upto 24 hour to apply setting.

Im not sure about the immediately removing thing , maybe Microsoft will charge you or no.

I believe that is fine. Its the same plan (PLAN 2) with 15$/ server/month.

Im not sure why you cannot see 2 plans , maybe because of different region or Cross check 1 thing

1) Sign in to the Azure portal.

Search for and select Microsoft Defender for Cloud.

From Defender for Cloud's menu, select Getting started.

The Upgrade tab lists subscriptions and workspaces eligible for onboarding. If you see Upgrade option , maybe you need to upgrade and you will see other plans.

Regarding why you could not see that policy for 1st step because that policy is still in PREVIEW mode. some time preview features are Region based.
Maybe MS have not released that preview for your region.

I should enable to ON then it worked for me::)
However one last question if i dont want to do I make it off it seems. correct?
I have enabled the plan, however if I am looking for VM ( my VM name is VMDSC ) is not visible in the just in time access area. PFA
Also please guide on Adaptive access , this one also not visible

Please check in the next tab " NOT CONFIGURED" in your same screen shot above.
you will find your VM there and select and enable it.

Hi Mohammad,

I could enable just in time access now. however to work on adaptive contrl access , I tried to open blog u have shared giving error.
It is my own laptop and azure subscription pay as go. I am not sure why it is giving error. PFA
Also please share me link for file integrity security option.

Hi @sns

You are seeing that error because you are using are CASB Solution to reach your cloud. CASB solution like reverse proxy (RPROXY) will steer your connection to go through the secure proxy server which can be in a different country and monitor your activity when you using the organization user account.

If you observe your URL in screen shot you shared it has additional proxy address i.e. RPROXY.GOSKOPE.COM

I believe the CASB Solution name it Netskope.

This setup are usually place by security team in your organization , you can ask them to unblock it.

Do you see the Microsoft Defender for Cloud in the settings of you VM?

Microsoft joined the "Azure Security Center" and "Azure Defender" to "Microsoft Defender for Cloud" a while ago.
