Attempted to install the following SSMS Release versions:

16.5.3 and 17.9.1 - looking for MS Visual Studio shell 2015 (Isolated)

"cannot find one or more components. Please reinstall the application."

Attempted to install the following SSMS Release versions:

18.5; 18.5.1; 18.12.1 - looking for MS Visual Studio 2017 (Isolated)

"cannot find one or more components. Please reinstall the application."

I have updated Windows Insider Preview 11 Professional from 25151.1000 to 25158.1000 to the recent build 25163.1010 and the numerous times that I have had to install/uninstall and re-install SMSS with no success. I have MS Visual Studio 2017 Community installed with other various MS Applications which I use for work. I am at a loss in regards to troubleshooting this issue. Any help will be appreciated.

    Hi @AtillaTheHun ,

This is a known issue. Please refer to below MS feedback about this issue.

    https://feedback.azure.com/d365community/idea/6b7d06dc-9bec-ec11-a81b-6045bd7ac9f9
    https://feedback.azure.com/d365community/idea/82a9ea93-08ee-ec11-a81b-6045bd7ac9f9

Quote from above feedbacks, we have a workaround:

    Download https://github.com/thebookisclosed/ViVe
    Run (from elevated cmd prompt):
    vivetool /disable /name:SV2Navpane
    shutdown -r -t0

We are working with the Windows team on a fix.
