Create data entry form and design report

Hello,

I am new to visual studio. At work I have a project in which we want to create a form that we can input data and then run a report using ssrs. Is there a template out there that I can use to get started? Thanks for your help.

Creating Reporting project

You can download and install Microsoft RDLC Report Designer package:

• Microsoft RDLC Report Designer for VS 2022
• Microsoft RDLC Report Designer for VS 2017, VS 2019

The Package contains New Projects and Report Designer for VB and C#.

This package works in conjunction with the Report Viewer Nuget Package. The Windows Forms projects have a reference to existing package and require rebuild or download to function properly.

Creating Data entry forms

For the data-entry forms, use the standard Windows Forms application project template. There's no special project template dedicated to data entry forms, but there are very good designer support to connect to a Database, create DataSet and DataTables, and then drag and drop data sources, so the designer will generate UI for you.

No. A report is intended to present data, not to enter them. For data entry you have to find a different solution then a SSRS report.

I agree with Olaf. If you want to create a form and design reports, then Microsoft RDLC Report Designer is a good choice.
