Can we configure private endpoints for APIM configured in external mode

Hi MS support,
we have configured APIM in external mode and it has both public and private side. Public side connecting to SaaS service and private side to another cloud provider via private connection. We want to lock private side using private endpoints if possible ? We are well aware that this is preview service at this stage. But really keen to know is this a possible configuration.
