Microsoft 2FA Additional Security Verification page

Hi Guys,

I just have this doubt. In my organization we have migrated Office services to cloud. Plus we also recently have had MFA enabled for all users.

Question is, whenever I go to 'aka.ms/MFAsetup', it leads to "Additional Security Verification' page. Weird thing is, I'm seeing 2 version of this page. One is the actual setup, which starts from registering phone number, receiving OTP and etc then the other version, which is the end version where you can edit your MFA setup sorta in a classic settings view. You can also delete and create new App passwords in the latter.

Supposedly, as per my understanding, once the phone number is registered and OTP is verified, the next time I go to 'aka.ms/MFAsetup', I should be seeing the MFA editing page instead of starting page back again

I can't predict if there's any difference in setup for certain user as they can view the editing page instead of starting over

Is there a way to make it the same for everyone or am I missing something?

Sorry and Thanks

    Hi @Parveen David ,

If the users' devices are registered, they should be directed to the "Security Info" blade at https://mysignins.microsoft.com/security-info

Alternatively, the users can go to myapps.microsoft.com, click the profile link in the upper right hand corner, and edit security info from there. Could you please share a screenshot of what you are seeing and the two different views?

If they're not seeing these options, the problem might be that the devices need to be registered but aren't yet (maybe something went wrong and it didn't get completed), and the tenant admin will need to add them directly.

Please let me know if they have better luck accessing the setup from the myapps page.

    Hi @Marilee Turscak-MSFT ,

    Thanks for the reply.

    1) This is what I see when I do initial setup for a user that has MFA enabled

    2) What I should see when I'm visiting aka.ms/MFASetup for a registered, MFA enabled user

So, the issue is instead of getting to image (2) for a registered user, I'm stuck in image (1) which re-registers user's number and creates a app password making the current app password invalid

    Hi @Marilee Turscak-MSFT

I think I found how to get to the image 2 as shown in previous comment

When I go to 'aka.ms/mfasetup' in Chrome, I'm able to get to the MFA option editing page instead of starting over MFA registration

Not sure what causes this issue but opening it from Chrome instead of Edge, bring me to this page

This case can be closed for now

    Thanks
