Hi there

In MS Teams, how do I change the default behavior of New Conversations and Replies, so the Enter key inserts a line break instead of sending the message? Ideally, I need to change this for all of our users (alternatively, it is fine to have this on a user level).

Thanks.

Unfortunately there is no way to change this behaviour. You will either need to use the format button or hit SHIFT+ENTER. I would recommend communicating with your users to educate them on the two options.

However, you could submit feedback to Microsoft and see if they can add an option at https://feedbackportal.microsoft.com/feedback/forum/ad198462-1c1c-ec11-b6e7-0022481f8472

Another stupid issue solved long ago in Slack:

Simply make it an option... ''enter' add's a new line' (ctrl-enter to send)

It is an annoying behaviour. I've lost count of the number of times that I have run afoul of this. Just default to a multi-line answer!

I agree that slack is superior to team chat in so many ways for the day-to-day usage. multi-line (configurable) is a must in any chat application intended for work. Apparently 'teams' is not optimized for this environment. I also hate that microsoft teams shows advertisements for Microsoft products when trying to login to a company website. No respect for privacy or opt-out from advertisements from Microsoft!
