I'll be rolling out Bitlocker in our organization and I found a laptop that has a dynamic disk which isn't compatible with Bitlocker. I'd like to find a way to find other computers with dynamic disks. Is there are registry key or another method people use to find computers with dynamic disks?

Hi Richard.

First and foremost: dynamic disks are only used for software mirroring. So if you see it on your clients, usually it's a misconfiguration since no one really uses this feature anymore.
In order to find computers that have this, I would use a batch script like this:

diskpart /s "\\server\share\diskpartscript.txt" | findstr /C:"* " && md \\server\share\%computername%.txt diskpart /s "\\server\share\diskpartscript.txt" | findstr /C:"* *" && md \\server\share\%computername%.txt

The file \server\share\diskpartscript.txt would need to simply contain the line:

list disk

These two lines will be enough to create a directory matching the computernames that have dynamic disks on \server\share.
Try it out.
