How to check if the software is genuine

The purchasing manager of the company I work for bought a laptop preloaded with microsoft office professional plus 2021 . I suspect it is a pirate copy. How do I verify / check that please?

We need to check whether there is license to use Office.

Is Office activated now?

1 Office is not activated at current time.

Some computers do with factory pre-installed Office that it can be used for a period or used permanently. (There may have Office label stickers on the computer to illustrate this.）
Under this case, you can try to active Office via signing in a Microsoft Account to bind the Office license key to this account. For more information, please refer to "My new Windows PC came with Office but I can't find a product key".
(Please note, once an Office license is bound with a Microsoft account, the account cannot be replaced. For company computer, it is recommended to use a non-private Microsoft account activate Office.)

If the Office can not be activated via steps above, then I suggest you use your company's licensed Office.

2 If Office is activated at current time, please try following steps to check the activation information.

• Search CMD, right-click the Command Prompt and run as administrator.
• Then copy and paste the command below in it, click Enter at last:
  cscript.exe "%ProgramFiles%\Microsoft Office\Office16\ospp.vbs" /dstatus

(If you are running 32-bit Office on a 64-bit operating system)
cscript.exe "%ProgramFiles(x86)%\Microsoft Office\Office16\ospp.vbs" /dstatus
