I have been asked to run a report that shows all the servers and the licensing that they are using. Is there a report for that? Thanks.

Also I notice that some servers show in sccm but most do not. How would I add an asset to sccm so that I can view it? Thanks again.

Hi @Draconna , What kind of discovery methods are enabled? Whether the unlisted devices are domain-joined? If all the devices are domain-joined, please confirm the Active Directory system discovery method is enabled. The Active Directory System Discovery actions are recorded in the file adsysdis.log in <InstallationPath>\LOGS folder on the site server. Hi Cherry, thanks for the screen shots. I see that the discovery is specifically set to exclude all the servers. I am not sure why this was setup. I guess I will remove that, as it sounds like the best practice is to have the servers show in sccm. I am concerned about why someone set it up this way. Unfortunately there is no one I can ask here as I am the sole sccm person now.

Ok I have learned why it was excluded. A few years back, before me, there was a catastrophic issue with SCCM deploying partial OS images to ALL servers. Brought the entire place down for a couple weeks. What do you all think about that? Do most places have server discovery enabled/disabled? I know Garth does recommend it, so that is a yes there.

If everything, especially deployments, is carefully scoped there is no reason for servers to not be present in MECM.

Make sure that nothing unexpected is being deployed to the "All Systems" collection.
Just to be extra safe, maybe add a test server to see if whatever caused the OS image deployment no longer exists.

Hi @Draconna ,
Based on your current situation, I recommend that you create collections through dynamic queries.

For example, we can create different collections for client, server and test machine. In the future deployment, you could deploy to the specific collection. Similar accidents can be avoided through this method.

1) Create static query for test machine.

2) Create dynamic queries for server and client.
The following dynamic queries command for you refer:

Server:
select * from SMS_R_System where SMS_R_System.OperatingSystemNameandVersion like "%server%"

Client:
select * from SMS_R_System where SMS_R_System.OperatingSystemNameandVersion like "%workstation%"

What you are asking is available in the configuration manager reports.
To see list of servers, you may select Operating system category and select Windows Server computers, to see report of license, look into report under Asset Intelligence category.

And for the servers which are not under ConfigMgr , you need to check the client application and check and make sure it is running and working correctly.

It looks like the majority of the servers are not listed in sccm. Is there a reason why this would be the case? Is it a bad practice to have all the servers accessible in sccm? Thanks.

yes imo they should all exist within mecm.

They should exist inside the configuration management, there might be several reasons like problem with the client application. Problem in communication or endpoint agent. I advise you to look into log files.
