Is there a way for excel to look for a set of text that will match regardless if an accent is there.

An example is I have a list with a name like Renee and it looking on another list with Renée. It could be searched the other way around.

Do you mean the Name is not the same? Are you looking for the Approximate match for data in Excel? Could you provide the screeshot about the table sample here?

If I understand your question correctly, you want to match a name with accents with one without. I recommend you try Fuzzy Lookup.
The Fuzzy Lookup Add-In for Excel performs fuzzy matching of textual data in Excel.
Visit the following page and download the add in and your problem should be resolved
