Inside our SharePoint Online document library >> I allowed the management of content type >> and i added 2 custom fields as follow:-

enter image description here

Now if we add the document directly from the document library as follow ( +New >> word Document):-

enter image description here

the document will have the related properties inside the "Quick Parts >> document Property", as follow:-

but if we upload a document from our desktop to the document library, then the "Quick Parts >> document Property" for the document will not have the custom columns .. any advice why this is happening? and can we force the custom properties to be added to the "Quick Parts >> document Property" for a document that we upload from our desktop? Thanks

    My advice is of limited value because I do not have SharePoint.

    The document properties in a document are created when the document is created. Moving it to your library does not change them.

    The document properties you are talking about are not traditional document properties but rather of the type "Cover Page" properties which are mapped to an XML node. Nevertheless, they are created when the document is created. Moving or copying or sending the document elsewhere does not change them.

    These are explored in Greg Maxey's page https://gregmaxey.com/word_tip_pages/EnhancedDocProp_AddIn.html where he provides an Add-In that can create these. You may want to try that and see if it can add in these to your moved documents and whether they will then behave the way you wish in SharePoint.

    @john john

    I have uploaded a file from desktop to SharePoint Online document library and I could find custom properties inside document property of quick parts.

    Please check whether you log in the client application with the correct Microsoft 365 account. And make sure the uploaded file is checked in.
