Welcome to Outlook 2016

I have several machines with this issue. It has started this week. Some already have an Outlook profile and others don't. For those that don't, I've been breaking Outlook so it stops asking the user to create a profile. However, I don't know what to do with the ones that actually use Outlook. In the screenshots below, you can see the popup for Outlook. You can also see how many times it tried to create a new profile. (I closed the popup and found those stacked up behind it.) We're seeing this with more than one of our tenants. I've sat there, watching the processes, killing Outlook and watched it come up several times a minute. This is on Win10 with the latest updates for Windows & Office. Office was reinstalled via the C2R program from Office.com. I also tried flushing the registry key from, HKLM\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Office\16.0 to HKLM\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Office\16.0.old but still no joy. Ideas?

    Hi @RKillcrazy ,

    Welcome to our forum!

From your description, there were several machines with this issue, did the user perform special operations on these machines before the problem occurred?

Given current, it is recommended to use the following troubleshooting:

    1. Check if it is related to some addins, run Oulook in safe mode:
In Windows 10, click Start > type Outlook /safe, in the Search programs and files and then click OK.
      Restart Outlook.
    2. The Microsoft Support and Recovery Assistant will run a series of diagnostic tests on your computer and help you set up a new profile, or resolve other issues. If any of the tests fails, it will provide suggested solutions to get your problem solved.
    3. Repair Outlook from control Panel.
    4. Perform a clean boot

My only issue with your proposal is that several of the affected users never use Outlook so there's no profile to repair.

Something (I'm guessing a recent update) is causing Outlook to open and go into the typical setup wizard. (I'm killing outlook.exe from the list of processes and watching it come back within seconds!) For the users who already have a profile, they can still get their MSO365 mail without issue; they merely have to close the window for the setup wizard and outlook will open normally. After that, they will have to keep closing the welcome wizard periodically. For those that never had a profile, the same thing happens but you end up with something like my 2nd screenshot where it keeps asking to create a new profile.

I have a case open with MS. I'll try to report back any findings.

@RKillcrazy Have you heard back from MS support? Every desktop/laptop in our office gets this message 3+ times a day, so annoying.
