Hi All

i have a KMS server which is running on Windows server 2012R2. i want to come up with Windows Server 2022 servers in our environment and i see that KMS installed on Windows Server 2012R2 is not supported for activating Windows Server 2022. i came up with a new Windows 2022 Server and i want to install Volume Activiation Service on it. Before installing it. i have a query on port. All my memberservers should communicate with the new KMS server on Port 1688. is there any other port to be allowed on network firewall.

Port 1688 should be it but also note you'll need DNS ports as well.

    Hi there,

By default, the clients use the 1688 TCP port to connect to the KMS host. Make sure that this port is open between your KMS clients and the KMS host. You can change or configure the port on the KMS host. During their communication, the KMS host sends the port designation to the KMS clients.

Link to registry setting for setting the KMS post other than the default of 1688

I hope this information helps. If you have any questions please let me know and I will be glad to help you out.
