Why is my new HDD not showing up?

I just got a new 2TB Western digital blue hard drive. I know I have plugged it in correctly because it shows up in the BIOS but for some reason in the BIOS, it says it has a storage capacity of 0 mb. It is connected to a sata 6 port with the correct cord. It doesn't show up at all in windows, not under device manager, file explorer, or disk management. I am running windows 11 and while the box says it is compatible up to windows 10, I am unsure if that is actually the problem or not. If it is I am unsure as to how I would fix something like that.

Could be a disk controller or driver limitation. Also try the WD diagnostic tools.

Another thing to look at is your motherboard support. Many motherboards support NVMe but do so at the cost of SATA ports. In my experience 1 NVMe drive on the primary connector is fine but trying to use the M.2 slot causes 1 or 2 of the SATA ports to no longer be available (and IME it tends to be ports 5 & 6). Try using a different port and see if the drive shows up. Your motherboard documentation should provide you this information.
