Hi all,

one server with Windows 2019 datacenter OS is allocated 24 GB memory.
the memory usage shows 95%. If I add all processor memory in use, it is about
3-4GB from the resource monitor. Where are all rest memory hiding which are 22GB
in use?

Thank you!

    Hello

Thank you for your question and reaching out. I can understand you are having issues related to RAM utilization.

It may be "Hardware Reserved", This usually happens when your motherboard either claims it or if Windows denies it.

Memory is only released by contemporary operating systems when there is a valid cause for doing so. When the memory needs to be used again, the resources needed to make it free are simply wasted. As a result, they only bother to make memory free when they have no other option.

the server is a VMware VM.

VMWare has the ability to make the VM think that it has 24gb, but can restrict it to say 8gb of real memory on the host. check the memory settings on the VM. In task manager, look in the details tab. select the "Memory (private working set) column and sort by largest. What process is using the most memory?
