Hi,

Quick question for you all.

I had a critical VM go into a paused state.

How do i prove that event 18516 (paused VM) in the event viewer in the hyper V worker logs was actually caused by a user. not a system error?

thanks

    Hello there,

Check your free space. Virtual servers also require an extra disk for memory and scratch space with all your VMs running this will probably drop to 0GB, and your VMs will pause. It is recommended you keep at least 10% free space.

In some cases, DPM for example forces the VM into a paused state. This can occur in several cases:

-Integration Services are not up to date
    -VM Linux guest system

Search in the "Hyper-V-Worker" event log for Event 18510. This Event will be logged when a VM enters the safe state. Maybe there are other Errors logged at the time when VM enters a safe state.
