Smart Card issues

Hello I am in the military and have an external drive encrypted by my old unit. Up until recently, I’ve been able to unlock it using my military common access card, but recently had an additional, now primary, certificate added to the card. Now I get a “a valid smart card wasn’t detected” message when attempting to access the drive. I cannot remember the password, and my old unit did not retain the recovery key. Is there a way to force bit locker to use a different certificate on the card when attempting to access the drive? I think my new cert is the problem.

    Hi,

Without the recovery key or password, it's not possible to access the bit locker encrypted data. You will need the password, recovery key or the old access card (old certificate) in order to access the data.

I hope this answers your question.
