Is it possible to format a bullet point so that it will indent to where I want it to instead of the default version? I know I can right click the button point and adjust the list indent and do it that way, but can I save that so I can just click it (even in a new document) and it will come out to where I want it indented, not the default indent?

You have to associate the number format with a paragraph style. Once you have done that, you can re-use the numbering by applying the style. For more, see the links posted by Charles.
