SharePoint On-premise OneDrive Application not use registry

Hi everyone

I would like to connect from the OneDrive application to my SharePoint on premise. I know that we have to add or update values in the registry. But is there another solution? For example by configuring a Tenant to have my domain name and Azure AD sync with my local AD.
The SharPoint is used by students and they are not domain join (personal laptop). So I can't deploy GPOs and edit registy it's not user friendly. Moreover, some use work computers. Their company blocks the registry access. For macs it's even worse with Plist file.

On mobile applications there is a button to connect either with your 365 account or with a url SharePoint server url. It works like a charm. Why we don’t have this choice on the PC application, or have a different application. Is this a way to force use cloud ?

    To set up OneDrive with SharePoint Server Subscription Edition or 2019, you can either use Group Policy or set the registry keys directly. Currently I have not found other documentations to describe whether there are other methods to meet this requirement.
