I have problem with Active Directory accounts without mailboxes, wich appear in Global Address List . But in Exchange ECP → organization → address lists i dont see these accounts. GAL filter i use:

((Alias -ne $null) -and (((ObjectClass -eq 'user') -or (ObjectClass -eq 'contact') -or (ObjectClass -eq 'msExchSystemMailbox') -or (ObjectClass -eq 'msExchDynamicDistributionList') -or (ObjectClass -eq 'group') -or (ObjectClass -eq 'publicFolder'))))

How to exclude AD accounts from GAL? Thanks

    Hi @Dmitry Pirogov ,
First, you can view the properties of these accounts through ADSI edit and compare them with other accounts. Look for showInAddressBook and see if the showInAddressBook property is set. If it is set, clear it and see if these users still appear in the GAL.

In general, we can use "Hide from Exchange Address Lists" to hide these users.
These accounts can be hidden in the GAL. In AD, find the user in the correct OU, open the user's properties, and navigate to the Attribute Editor tab, find the msExchHideFromAddressLists property, check this property and set it to "true".

If none of the above works for you, you can try to reach your goal by configuring the filter.

    Hello

Thank you for your question and reaching out. I can understand you are having query\issues related to

Normally an user without Exchange attributes should not come up in the GAL (it also wouldn´t make sense to show them here). So there are multiple options:

If the user is a exchange user you can simply hide it from the GAL. There is an option in every AD object which you can set via the Exchange GUI (more infos here). Via that way you can exclude the users you do not wish to come up in the GAL.
