The Business Basic SKU does not include the desktop version of the Office apps, such as Word, Excel and PowerPoint. It does include the web apps, as well as email, OneDrive, Teams. So as long as you are fine with only having access to the web (and mobile) Office apps, go for it.

Office 365 Business Basic vs Standard
I currently have a Business Standard license for myself and another employee. However, we don't use any of Team or collaboration apps. I think the Basic is sufficient for us. Can you confirm that it includes all of the microsoft apps except Publisher and it includes an email account?

2022-08-16T17:53:01.64+00:00 The Microsoft 365 Business Basic does not include the desktop apps (only the online versions on the web). If you are fine with the online apps (which are less feature rich) you could change your plans. The Basic version also includes an e-mail account as seen below.
Microsoft 365 Business Basic
Microsoft 365 Business Standard

If you don't use any of Team or collaboration apps, and need an email account, Office 365 Business Basic is enough.
