I currently use AOL for my e-mail and browser. Recently I received notices saying I needed to upgrade my Microsoft application to
.Net Framework 4.8 to be able to continue to use my AOL. My computer is old and I use Windows 8 according to what I read .Net 4.8 will not work with Windows 8. I need to install .Net 4.6.2 because that is the only Framework that is still supported for Windows 8. I downloaded the .Net 4.6.2 but that didn't do anything and I still can't access my AOL. Just like my computer- I am old and not tech savvy so all of this is very confusing! I did find a blurb on one of the pages from Microsoft that said you can use .Net Framework 4.8 with Windows 8. Did I read something wrong or did Microsoft upgrade their system to now accept Windows 8. That Is my question (since I can't find the blurb again)- I wish Microsoft would have a help desk with tech people that could help when customers have questions or problems! AOL Techs tried to help by remotely going into my computer and saw what I saw - they thought I might have to upgrade to Windows 10 so I could get this .Net 4.8 to work. This is ridiculous- My computer was working fine until Microsoft decided THEY needed to do upgrades! I spent around 9 hours today just reading and trying different things to get this computer to work.

    Hi @John Ross

NET Framework 4.8 is the latest version. It is supported on Windows Server 2012, but is not supported on Windows 8. It's included with Windows 11 and in Windows 10 starting with the May 2019 Update.

Microsoft .NET Framework 4.8 (Offline Installer) supports the following operating systems:

    • Windows 8.1
    • Windows RT 8.1
    • Windows Server 2012 R2

.NET Framework 4.8 is supported on Windows Server 2012. It is not supported on Windows 8.
