Unable to send Email message using Mail for Windows app

For about 2 months now I am unable to send email messages using the "Mail for Windows" app. I receive incoming messages but not able to send. Error message is "There was an error sending your message". The firewall is working well, and the app has been granted access through. Email accounts have been removed and re-added. Mail app uninstalled and re-installed. Yet the problem persists.
Would be glad if anyone could provide alternative solutions.

    Hello Wilson,

    What type of e-mail account did you add in the Windows Live Mail app?
    If you can't send an e-mail message but you do receive them there seems to be a problem reaching your SMTP server or the authentication for the SMTP server is not working.

    Hello there,

    Go to Start and open Mail. Select Manage Accounts and select your email account. Select Change mailbox sync settings > Advanced mailbox settings. Confirm that your incoming and outgoing email server addresses and ports are correct.

    Meanwhile, you may try to re-add your account and check if the issue persists.

    Try to re-configure the Windows Live Mail account.
