Delivery Optimization Limit to peers on the same subnet

We are exploring the idea of rolling out Delivery optimization and wondering if workstations at a remote branch location would push/pull from computers at another branch location, and how to prevent that. Ideally computers at one location would only pull from computers at that same location (or subnet). We see an option to "Restrict Peer Selection by: Subnet Mask" would that limit peers to only devices within the same subnet?

    Hello there,

You can try Using a proxy with Delivery Optimization.

In Windows 11 the 'Local Peer Discovery' option was introduced to restrict peer discovery to the local network. Currently the available options include: 0 = NAT, 1 = Subnet mask, and 2 = Local Peer Discovery. These options apply to both Download Modes LAN (1) and Group (2) and therefore means there is no peering between subnets. The default value in Windows 11 is set to "Local Peer Discovery".

There are a great many details you can set in Delivery Optimization to customize it to do just what you need it to. This topic summarizes them for your reference. I hope this information helps.

Note that unless you've explicitly configured DO not to function or have previously blocked it at the network layer, you already have DO rolled and working as it is enabled by default.
