Image Anchor Link not working in Office 365 for months...

Hello All,

Hopefully someone can help,

We have been using a set of templates for a number of years without any issues, the templates are saved in the Office 2003 format for compatibility and have a background image stored within the header that is linked to an image file stored on a networked drive, so that the image itself is not embedded into the template - just linked. Using all editions of Office365 since October 2021 have had a problem that when the template is opened where the image should be it says 'The file may have been moved, renamed, or deleted. Verify that the link points to the correct file and location', however if we then open the header and double-click the image, it then magically appears. (proving that the network location does indeed exist). If we use the office deployment kit to roll back Office365 to a previous version prior to October 2021 then the images automatically appear as normal when the template is opened.

Updating the templates and saving them into a newer format makes no difference, the issue still exists.

The only work around I've found is to either directly embed the image into the document header (not a practical option for our needs) or to keep all the computers using an older version of Office365.

Any thoughts or suggestions would be received with thanks.

Regards,

Mark.

    Hi, @Scoobs
Could you please tell us which Office 365 apps are you using when you meet with this problem?

If it is in outlook, we recommend you to open the Registry Editor, then select
    HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Office\x.0\Common
    DWORD:BlockHTTPimages
    Value:1
    Delete BlockHTTPimage
    233810-image.png

If it is in word, Click edit the link to the file in word-info, select all source files, and tick Save pictures in document.
