Hello

so the computer crashed a few days ago. and i've reinstalled windows 10 on it and joined it back to the domain.

Now when we search in a specific folder on the shared drive we will nog get any results...
With an other computer with the same user we can get search results in the same folder.

other folders for the computer are not a problem. So what we know this is only a issue with one folder.

Also if i press right click on the shared folder to go to properties it doesn't do anything... So i think the problem is in the shared folder and not in the index of the computer itself.

What i already have done:

  • Restarted File explorer
  • Make Sure Windows Search Service Is Enabled
  • Change the Search Options (File Explorer > Options > Search > toggled last option)
  • Rebuild Search Index
  • Run Search and Indexing Troubleshooter
  • Repair Corrupted System Files
  • And rejoined the network drive

Can someone please help me?

Thanks in advance!

    Hello there,

Have you indexed to search the Network drive?

I suggest that you try to index the sub folders manually on the search Index and check if you are able to search through the network drive.

    a. Click on Start and type search index in the search field.
    b. Click on ‘Change how Windows searches’.
    c. Click on Modify and go to the location. Include the sub directories and check if you have the same issue.

Windows Search does not work in a DFS environment (Distributed File System). If you use DFS shares on your network, you'll need to change your workstations so that they map directly to the server where Windows Search is set up.

I hope this information helps. If you have any questions please let me know and I will be glad to help you out.
