InTune - Multi devices

Question

We are currently using Intune for our mobile and tablets - If I have a user who has both is there a way to have the configuration profile to apply per by device rather than per user? ie the lock out screen on the mobile is short and the tablet config is slightly longer but as my user is in both groups the mobile config applies to both devices

I can only see user groups no device groups - Wondered if this can be done via categories?

Any advise would be great

To clarify this issue, we appreciate your help to collect some information:

1. Which platform of these devices? iOS/iPadOS?
2. What did you mean "I can only see user groups no device groups"?

If the device is not enrolled to intune, when we configure device categories and create Azure AD groups, it is needed to select a category during device enrollment.
If the device is already enrolled to intune, we will be asked to select a category the next time we're in the Company Portal app.

Based on my understanding, configuration profiles can be deployed to device groups. We can create a device group, add the target devices in this device group manually and assign this configuration profile to this device group.
