Hello Everyone,

I am just like every normal person, i am not a tech-ky type, but i definitely know how to follow instructions. I have read almost all kinds questions about...

"This operation has been cancelled due to restrictions in effect on this computer please contact your administrator"

But unfortunately none answered my question nor solved my problem even after doing what their instructions told me to do. That is why here i am, posting my own question in hope that i could get an answer that would finally solve my problem.

So please help me :(

There is a problem with the new USB Drive that i bought online last week. Everytime i insert this USB in my laptop's USB Port it looks normal just like all USB Drives i get that "Safe Open" pop up.

But if i click on that "Safe Open" button the error "This operation has been cancelled due to restrictions in effect on this computer please contact your administrator" will pop up.

I bought my laptop and it was never set to any settings aside from its default settings and no one has ever got their hands on my laptop aside from me.

Laptop Brand: Acer Aspire A514-54
Windows Edition 11 Version 21H2

The USB Drive is okay with other PCs and Laptops but not with my laptop. Please help me :(

That scare the hell out of me when i tried inserting all of my USBs.
But i finally figured out what went wrong when i inserted my Seagate External Hard Drive.
The problem was the security i set with the USB Disk Security.
It was all locked when i checked. Thank god it was just that simple.

Thank you for attending to my problem Sir @KurtBMayer
    I'm fine now.

    Hi,

Thank you for posting your query.

To resolve your query kindly do the steps below.

Solution 1: Reset Internet Explorer’s settings
In most cases, simply resetting Internet Explorer’s settings fixes this issue. To do so, you need to:

Hold the Windows Key and Press R. Type inetcpl.cpl and Click OK.

Navigate to the Advanced. Click on Reset… under the Reset Internet Explorer settings. Check Delete personal settings and click on Reset.

Click on Close. Now HOLD the Windows Key and Press R again, type ncpa.cpl and Click OK

Go to Programs -> Click on Set programs under the Internet programs. Click on Set your default programs.

Solution 2: Import fresh registration files from a different computer
Before you try this solution; make sure to create a system restore point. In case something goes wrong, you can restore to the restore point you created. You can follow the steps here for creating restore point. On a different computer, one that is not affected by this issue, press Windows Logo key + R to open a Run

Type in regedit and press Enter.

Navigate to the following directory in the left pane:

    HKEY_Local_Machine\Software\Classes\htmlfile\shell\open\
Click on the Command subkey under open.

Click on File/Registry in the toolbar at the top.

    Click on Export.

Save the .reg file (registration file) with a suitable name.

Copy the .reg file to a removable storage medium such as a USB flash drive and copy it onto the computer affected by this issue.

Double-click the .reg file after it has been copied to the affected computer to merge it with the computer’s registry and apply the changes. If prompted to do so, click on Yes to confirm the action.
