Sudden performance issues AAS tabular model

Hi!

I have a BI question about performance in our tabular model deployed to Azure Analysis Services. Some background: we have a large data model (pricing tier S2) where our business users (around 200 users) view data and build reports (Excel & PBI) through live connection.

From one day to another, we suddenly face quite serious performance issues in our model. The QPU usage goes through the roof, and the memory usage increases. Why did it happen? Well, we deployed two calculated columns and some SUMX measures which apparently our current AAS model couldn't handle.

We have now drawn back the deploy and removed the problematic calculated columns and measures, but we still have QPU and memory usage problems. It's better, but it's still not good enough. In my opinion the situation should be back to normal after removing the columns and measures that caused the problem...

Does anyone have any input on this issue? And maybe some suggestions on what we can do?

Just let me know if you need more information. Thanks in advance!

/Ella

Hi @Anonymous , How about using "Azure Analysis Services utility for QPU auto-scale" that helps to auto scale when QPU usage is high? Please check below link for more details.
    https://azure.microsoft.com/en-in/updates/azure-analysis-services-qpu-autoscale-is-now-available/

Please let us know how it goes.
