Hello,

Why Routing and Remote Access service is disable in Windows 10 system.

Windows 10 version is 21H2.

I don't want to start this service but I want to know why this service is in disable state?
It is always in disable state in all Windows 10 version?

It will great if I get any relevant document for it so that I can understand the behavior of this service.

Routing and Remote Access Services (RRAS) is a server role only at this point.

    Hi Vikrant-6824,

The Routing and Remote Access Service (RRAS) is used to provide site-to-site connectivity by using a VPN or dial-up connections. By using RRAS technology, you can deploy VPN connections that let users access your organization’s network remotely. In summary, RRAS technology provides routing services to businesses in LAN or WAN environments by using secure VPN connections. It is disabled by default on Windows 10/11 systems.

I hope this answers your question.

The critical question in my view is wether RRAS can be used on Win 10. I have tried in vain to enable the RRAS service and can find no evidence of anyone successfully using it except on windows server platforms. Troubleshooter suggested that my problem could be firewall or security but with Nortons help that possibility has been ruled out. I have followed several solutions threads online such as ensuring checking the SvcHostSplitDisableregistry entry but all appears as it should there. I would be grateful for any comments on the subject.
