is it possible to use an on prem sharepoint 2013 server as a data source for o365 with a gateway?

A client has a requirement that their data remain on prem but they want to take advantage of all the other functionality of M365. Currently they are on Lotus notes and the data needs to be migrated to sharepoint. they own a small SP2013 farm and a o365 tenent.

They are hesitant to move the financial data so I thought migrate to SP2013 and then use that as a data source for o365 - is that possible?

thx,
LDP

    Hi @Luis DP ,
According to your description, let me describe my understanding of the issue and see if it is correct:
Currently data is stored locally and has nothing to do with SharePoint. Then migrate the data to SharePoint Server 2013, and then use it as the data source of O365, so that the functions of M365 can be used.
If so, I would suggest you to do SharePoint hybrid.
