Does distributed sql server require a witness server?

Hi All,

I have configured Distributed AG multi-site

  • Site A: DB1, DB2
  • Site B: DB3, DB4

On site A, I have installed Window Server Failover Clustering (WSFC) and Add 2 Nodes (DB1, DB2)
On site B, I have installed Window Server Failover Clustering (WSFC) and Add 2 Nodes (DB3, DB4)

For my question, Does each site in (WSFC) require to configure file share witness?

    Yes, you are right. Even-numbered nodes need to configure quorum. You need to configure a witness for each windows cluster.
