Hi,

at the time I have SCCM version 2203 and SQL 2017 with Windows 2019 Server. I want to upgrade (In-Place) to the Windows 2022 Server.
Is there any Upgrade guide?

Regards

Nick

    Hi @CÍSAŘ Lubomír ,

    1) About in-Place Upgrade from SQL Server 2017 to SQL Server 2019, something we should be note. For example:

    • Upgrade SQL Server at the central administration site first. Upgrade secondary sites before you upgrade a secondary site's parent primary site. Upgrade parent primary sites last.
    • Make sure you backup your CM database and your SSRS database before you begin this process. Ensure you also backup your custom reports.

More notes please pay attention to Step 1 – Before you upgrade your SQL Server from the link.

    2) We can uninstall SQL Reporting services in advance and reinstall it after the upgrade.

We can download SQL Server 2019 Reporting Services from the link:
Download Microsoft SQL Server 2019 Reporting Services from Official Microsoft Download Center

    Hi JimmySalian,

I see on the link you send me that I have to uninstall the WSUS role from the server

""Remove the WSUS role from the server if it's installed. You may keep the SUSDB and reattach it once WSUS is reinstalled."" Is there any guide for that step? OR that step is only for in-Place Upgrade from Windows 2012 R2 Sever????

As I mention, I have Windows 2019 server and want to upgrade to windows 2022 server

What is mean? ONLY the WSUS role from Windows Server 2019 or the SUP from SCCM too?

How can I keep the SUSDB and reattach it once WSUS is reinstalled ???

Can I in-Place upgrade the SQL server from 2017 to SQL 2019 server too? Should I in-Place upgrade first the SQL server from 2017 to SQL server 2019 and then in-Place upgrade windows 2019 Server to Windows 2022 server??

    regards

    Hi @PerserPolis-1732 ,

    1) With previous in-place OS upgrade from Windows Server 2008 R2 to Windows Server 2012/R2, it was required to removed WSUS. This was due to a WSUS version change. This is no longer required, as Windows Server 2019 and Windows Server 2022 uses the same WSUS version.

Note: After the upgrade, the Post-Deployment Configuration of WSUS is not completed. To fixed it we should clicking on the Launch Post-Installation tasks link.

    2) We can in-Place upgrade the SQL server from 2017 to SQL 2019 server. Depending on your plan, you can choose the order of OS/SQL upgrades.
