Hi all, I have some questions about option in Update ring. Pls can some one help me with this?

1 - What "Windows drivers" options install/deliver when enabled? Is there a list of this?

2 - "Windows drivers" install BIOS updates too?

3 - "Windows drivers" installation uses deadline settings from configured ring?

Tnx a lot

    Hi @Patrick Mor
Thanks for posting in our Q&A.
As far as I know, there is no such checklist, and the update rings can only determine whether it includes/excludes windows updates, depending on the updates that your system currently requires.

Critical BIOS updates are also pushed through Windows Update, ensuring windows updates are Allowed.

Yes, if you have a configured deadline. it will specify the number of days before updates are installed on their devices automatically.

First note that we are actively working on a completely revamped driver and firmware experience so these answers are only valid for what's currently in production but will change "soon".

    1. Only drivers marked as mandatory by the entity that published the driver will be deployed via Windows Update for Business. Microsoft does not control this for drivers, that's up to the vendor/OEM of the driver. IME, there aren't many that are published as mandatory, but there are some.
    2. Similar answer to number 1, that's up to the vendors and OEMs. IME, I don't think any vendors besides Surface do this.
    3. Yes, all updates do.
