Windows (10) update stuck on 21H1

Hi,

My computer (HP Probook 450 G5 with 16Gb / 1Tb SSD) is perfectly compatible to upgrade to Win 11.

However its Windows is stuck on Ver. 21H1 build 19043.1526 and whatever I do to get past that throws the dreaded 0x80004005 error. Same result if I try to update my current Win10 to a newer build or accept the request to upgrade to Win 11 which I get every morning.

I have tried hundreds of 0x80004005 tips found on the net, to no avail and I'm very frustrated that Microsoft cannot come up with some software that can remedy situations like this.

Is there really no hope for my situation...?

best regards btor

I am experiencing some troubles after the update. My unit is kind of logging. Meanwhile, please visit my website: https://luxebet88.info/

    Hi BTor-3805,

As this is a Windows update error and you have stated that you have tried 100s of possible solutions, it's unlikely that my suggestion will help, but it has resolved this for me in the past:

Delete everything in the Windows Update download folder.

    Windows 10/11:
    C:\Windows\SoftwareDistribution

    Windows pre 10:
    C:\Windows\SoftwareDistribution\Download

Sometimes a corrupt temporary file can cause this error. Use the Windows Disk Cleanup tool or type %temp% in the Windows search bar to find the Temp folder and delete everything inside it.

I hope this answers your question.
