Hello,
I don't have any other information about the error besides the TNS error code. No matter what server or database I attempt to connect to, I am presented with that same error. However, after some researching, I remember that I had installed a different version of the Oracle client on my desktop since the last time I attempted to register resources. So I am going to uninstall the oracle client and attempt to reinstall the correct version to see if that resolves the issue.
Azure Data Catalog registration tool returns ORA-12154: TNS:could not resolve the connect identifier specified on windows 10
I've used the Azure Data Catalog registration tool (the tool provided by Microsoft on the Azure Data Catalog site) to register 3000+ assets. Today, when I opened the registration tool on my Windows desktop I was prompted to upgrade to the new version. After installing the new version I continually get this Oracle error when trying to connect to Oracle Databases to register assets.
ORA-12154: TNS:could not resolve the connect identifier specified
How do I fix this issue?
Update:
In my particular case, I had somehow installed two versions of the client software from Oracle: 12.1 and 12.2. To resolve the issue I had to run the deinstall.bat file in the most recent client install to remove the second version. I guess the azure registration tool just doesn't like to have competing tnsnames.ora files or something of that nature.
