Microsoft Authenticator Failed Register: "authenticator registration has timed out. please choose next to try again"

I cannot complete the registration account with Microsoft Authenticator. I am able to successfully add my phone but I'm facing issues with the app. When I try to scan the QR, I get an error message on my phone and when I enter the data manually the following message appears: "authenticator registration has timed out. please choose next to try again". After I choose next, the computer keeps thinking and never loads. Please help.
