source code missing for asp.net project integrated version 4.0 IIS setting

Dear all,

The system was developed by external vendor. Now I have to do the modifications in this project. Can somebody guide me to get the visual studio source code.

From your description, it's hard to help you.
Don't you know how to deploy the project? You can check the documentation:ASP.NET Web Deployment using Visual Studio: Deploying to Test.
I think you can contact the external vendor for help.

Dear Lan Huang-MSFT,

i could get access to the server. i had attached screenshots of the project. Now my requirement is - a copy of DB and access this project locally. Any modifications required i want to do this locally and deploy this later using webdeploy method.

Any inputs were highly appreciated. i really do not want to contact the vendor - as he may charge the company.

If you do not have the source code, you could try to decompile the binaries in the bin folder but it would be easier to contact the vendor and see it they will give you the source.

You are looking at the compiled project not the source project.

You should check the vendor agreement to see if source code was included. While you can decompile the dll's in the bin folder, your companies agreement with the vendor may prohibit this. Often source code is kept in escrow, and will become available only if the vendor goes out of business or is no longer able to support the project.
