two sections are missing from sharepoint onenote

two sections are missing from sharepoint OneNote even though user has full control
It does not have password protected
cleared the OneNote cache but no luck

Please help.

Hi @sns ,

Whether all users can't see these two sections when they open the onenote file in client?

Please open the onenote file in client, and click the History tab> NoteBook Recycle Bin to check whether they have been deleted.

Hi Wang,

Issue exists for only one user, she is not able to see 2 sections.

From NoteBook recyle bin did not find any thing.

But for library level ( here OneNote file is resided) she has limited and edit access.
if I look at under shared option for the OneNote file alone in library she has full control

and as a part of troubleshooting I have added a site collection admin then she can see those 2 sections from OneNote browser

once site collection admin access deactivated then again she is not able to see those 2 sections

What could be the cause?
we tried clearing the cache , office repair , and rebooted machine

and below is effected user response:
***I cannot find the history tab under “file” in my client.
The owners have shared with me and given me different levels of access (up to “full control”). Nothing has worked so far.*
I am not aware of any password protection. But I am not sure.

Hi @sns ,

According to my test, if these sections are password-protected, user with permission to this file will still see the file in browser and need to provide the password:

Please remove all permissions for this user then re-grant again to check the result.

Hi Wang,

But user is able to only these 2 sections, and it not showing any message like "section is password protected" there is no such message showing.

in case if it is password protected how we can confirm to end user that it is password protected

and I tried to remove but it is saying it is invalid inspite of it is correct user and correct site
You must specify a valid user object or user identity.

Hi Wang,

After creating new note book and moved those 2 section to new note book user could see those 2 sections

may I know why it worked in this way?
what is the problem?

Hi @sns ,

It's hard to say why the user who has right permission lacks these two sections.

Since you have created a new file and everything is ok, please wait for a while to see if the issue occurs again.
