Link feature for Azure SQL Managed Instance

Question

Hi,

I have to use Azure SQL managed instance for reporting purpose and reading about Link feature for Azure SQL Managed Instance which is in Preview which work on the distributed availability group.
My Question is will the distributed availability group create on database than link feature will be utilized or Link feature will automatically configure the distributed availability group in backend.

Or

I will use Transaction replication for continuous data replication for reporting and Analytics.

As we understand the ask here is you want to know more about how the link feature configuration works, correct me if my understanding is wrong.
SQL Server Management Studio (SSMS) tool will automatically create everything on SQL Server.
