Hello,

I'm running into an issue where any OpenXR application closes silently at immediately at startup. I'm kind of at a dead end now, I'll share with you everything I know.

HP ZBook Studio G4

  • Intel Core i7-7700HQ
  • 8 GB Memory
  • Nvidia Quadro M1200 (Driver version 516.94)

Windows Mixed Reality Headset (Medion Erazer X1000)

Windows 10 Pro 10.0.19042
Mixed Reality Runtime 111.2208.18003 (according to OpenXR Tools for WMR)
API Version 1.0.24

I have tried running the Demo that comes with the OpenXR Tools for WMR, which also closes the app as soon as I run the demo.
Based on this post (https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/answers/questions/522442/openxr-crashes-wmr-headset-after-latest-update.html) I did the log tracing with Device Portal when I started WMR portal and then OpenXR Tools demo, which gives the following trace.

Any ideas? I have reinstalled Mixed Reality and updated my graphics drivers. This is the first time I am using the headset on this laptop. The headset works fine on my desktop PC (which has the same Mixed Reality Runtime version).

EDIT: The following 239221-image.png error message accompanies the crash in Event Viewer. And the following WER file. (renamed to .log)

I have this kind of issue, almost exactly the same.

It affects the VR version of Minecraft, the XR Tools demo, iRacing OpenXR Mode also will not launch with the same type of error.

Definitely some issue with OpenXR + WMR as iRacing and other games work fine with SteamVR.

I have gone back and tried to find a solution multiple times over the past 6+ months and it seems like either it works fine with no issue, or "doesn't work" for unspecified reasons when finding posts and conversations on other discussion sites.
