Developer Windows 365 disconnects after connecting the VPN

Hello,

I am facing an issue with the VPN connectivity. I recently started working with the Developer Windows 365 and I had to connect the VPN. I access the Developer Windows 365 machine by using the "Windows App". When I try to connect to VPN, the device disconnects and doesn't connect again. But if I do the same process while accessing the machine from internet browser instead of "Windows App", it doesn't have any issues at all and everything works without getting disconnected. Is this an issue related to the "Windows App" or the VPN as VPN could be blocking the "Windows App" port may be? Any possible solutions?

    Hello

Thank you for posting in Microsoft Community forum.

Based on your description, here are some possible workarounds:

    1. The Windows App may not have sufficient permissions to access the VPN. Sometimes, the app may be throttled when it requires a network connection. You can try running Windows App as an administrator and see if that resolves the issue.
    2. VPN connections usually use specific ports (e.g. 1723 for PPTP, 1701 for L2TP, 1194 for OpenVPN, etc.). If you don't allow these ports in your VPN configuration, you may experience connectivity issues when using the Windows App. You can check your VPN's settings to confirm that the required ports are open.
    3. The network adapter used by the Windows App may be different from the network adapter used directly through the browser. Check the configuration of your network adapters to make sure they are all working and conflicting.
    4. On-premise firewalls or security software can sometimes block network access for certain programs. It's a good idea to temporarily disable your firewall or security software to see if the Windows App connects to the VPN.
    5. Some VPNs may have compatibility issues with specific types of apps. Try a different VPN protocol (e.g. switch to OpenVPN, IKEv2, etc.) and see if it improves.
    6. It may be that the Windows App itself has a bug or needs to be updated. Check to see if the developer has released an update and make sure you're using the latest version.
    7. If possible, use a network monitoring tool such as Wireshark to capture packets when trying to connect to the VPN and analyze if there are blockages.

If none of the above methods solve the problem, it is recommended that you contact your VPN provider's technical support, who may provide more professional advice and solutions.

I hope the information above is helpful.

    Regards,

    Jill Zhou
