Whenever my users try to open File explorer it says "This operation has been cancelled due to restrictions in effect on this computer. Please contact your system administrator." I have tried everything, going through regedit, deleting files that aren't needed, tried opening it using the command prompt. And nothing happens, please does somebody know how to fix it properly. pls Give us Support ASAP

    Hi SysAd - Pressfit,

Thank you for posting in the Microsoft Community Forums.

In the Group Policy Editor navigate to:

User Configuration > Administrative Templates > Windows Components > File Explorer.

After standalone File Explorer, in the right window find “Disable known folders”, or “Prevent access to drives”, “Hide My Computer “Hide these specified drives in My Computer”, or something like that, double-click it to edit it and make sure it's set to Unconfigured or Disabled.

Open the Registry Editor by pressing Win + R and typing regedit.

    Navigate to the following path:

    HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Policies\Explorer

Find out if there is a key named NoViewOnDrive or NoFolderOptions and if it exists, remove it.

    Similarly check the following paths:

    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Policies\Explorer

Delete the key with the same name (NoViewOnDrive or NoFolderOptions), if present.

Use System File Checker to scan and repair possible corrupted files.

Open a command prompt (run as administrator).

    Run the following command:

    sfc /scannow

Wait for the scan to complete and follow the prompts to fix it.

    Best regards

    Neuvi Jiang

What it says seems to be a reaction to Policy Management.

Please don't change anything in the Registry unless you are absolutely sure about intended effects.

How did you arrive at the conclusion that what files weren't needed?

Did the command prompt say the same as when users opened the File Explorer and traversed to Documents?

For more experienced people in this community hierarchy it would probably best for you to tell more about how your users access File Explorer. On what operating system they work. Do they work on the same computer? Or simultaneously on the same file(s)?

How are you responsible for your server? How is your network setup?

If it is a reaction to Policy Management and you have done nothing to change anything (and why would you have) then I fear for your setup and hope that you have backups in place.

Just a bunch of more questions and no workable answer from me, but if you need help you need to give more.

I will be around the coming couple of weeks to see and opinonate on what questions are brought here.
