Registering and Troubleshooting Service Principal Names (SPNs)

Last night I published an article titled Service Principal Names (SPNs) on the TechNet Wiki. Actually, I've been working on it on and off this entire week. This is something I was asked to do a while ago by Customer Support Services (CSS). The goal of the article is help administrators resolve issues with SPNs that can cause all kinds of service related issues. For example, it can keep Forefront Identity Manager (FIM 2010) from working properly, Active Directory Domain Services (AD DS) from replicating, and prevent clients from authenticating to a server (SQL is a common example). Eventually, we may migrate this information into the TechNet Library, but for now it sits waiting for some attention on the TechNet Wiki. So, if you have experience troubleshooting SPNs and have a Live ID, feel free to update this article to make it more valuable. If you run into issues troubleshooting an SPN, please, give the topic a try and leave some feedback here or on the article. If this type of community enhanced article development works well, then we do more of it. I think this could be a lot quicker way to get timely and useful troubleshooting information to people in need.
